The excursion for the students of the HTL Mödling to the factory premises of AGRANA Stärke GmbH in Pischelsdorf at the beginning of June was exciting and highly informative. Never before had the students been this close to an actual production plant.
The trip was jointly organized by HTL, Agrana and Pörner, and started by bus with an experienced technical “tour guide” and initiator of the excursion – our CEO Andreas Pörner. During the drive, he already imparted a lot of interesting information and technical knowledge about process plant engineering. Specific insights into the € 125 million bioethanol plant of Agrana, which Pörner built in 2007 as general planner, as well as the starch plants, were viewed during the plant tour.
Particularly impressive: the perfect integration of all plant components in terms of the complete utilization of biogenic raw materials for the energetically optimized production of such diverse product groups as bioethanol, starch and carbon dioxide.
Creating a practical understanding of engineering is important to us – in our opinion: you can’t start early enough…
Such detailed insights into the supreme discipline of engineering – large-scale plant engineering – are not often possible for future mechanical engineers. We take this opportunity to thank Agrana for the uniquely informative presentation and perfectly organized tour of the Pischelsdorf site! We happily come back again!
