Because of the positive market trend and the successful operation of the first BP-TMC plant having been in use for 8 years now the Hi-Bis GmbH in Bitterfeld/Germany decided to invest in a second plant.
The investment value amounts to approx. EUR 50 m.
As it was the case with the first plant producing the most important base material to make Apec, an extremely heat-resistant, high-performance plastic, both EDL Anlagenbau Gesellschaft, Leipzig as plant engineering company and Toyo Engineering Corp. as supplier of the plant has been awarded the associated contracts. EDL will perform all detail engineering services for the Hi-Bis2 project. According to the time schedule the engineering work will be completed until July 2013. Commissioning is scheduled to be in the spring of 2014.
Ground-breaking event with Japanese Shinto ceremony
Engineering work had progressed so far that the site works could already start. The first sod was turned on the Bitterfeld site on Oc-tober 1, 2012. Hi-Bis GmbH Bitterfeld invited to the exceptional ground-breaking ceremony for the new bisphenol-TMC plant which was held in the presence of the Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt, Dr. Reiner Haseloff, and the Japanese ambassador in Germany, Mr. Takeshi Nakane.
Before the first sod could be turned a shinto priest wished the best of luck for the construction and operation of the plant as well as eternal harmony between man and nature.
