The demand for high-quality bitumen continuous steadily. This is why ABC – All Bitumen Cameroon – is investing in the engineering of a new bitumen refinery in the Kribi region of Cameroon.
The planned industrial complex will consist of an integrated Atmospheric Distillation Unit ADU and Vacuum Distillation Unit VDU (870,000 TPA) and Bitumen Blowing Unit BBU (250,000 TPA) including Bitumen Cooling and Packing Unit CPU (10 metric tons/hr) for cooling and filling the bitumen.
Pörner received the order for the license, pilot tests, and basic engineering of the bitumen plant within the Grassroots refinery. Within the bitumen plant, the Biturox® technology will be implemented - the Pörner process for the production of quality bitumen, which has been well proven for 40 years. Also part of the project is the Cooling&Packing plant (CPU) based on the Pörner patent, which allows the packaging, storage and transport of bitumen in cold condition.
Pörner project manager Christian Opitz signed at the kickoff meeting in Brno / Czech Republic (1st - 3rd of March) the protocol of the meeting together with representatives of ABC, Unis a.s. as overall contractor and EPC – Euro Petroleum Consultants Ltd. He is optimistic about the project and explains: “Cameroon is a stable market and we are working with professional partners. This refinery will make a decisive contribution to the development of a functioning infrastructure in Cameroon.”
The plan is to process African crude oil into bitumen and other refined products of high quality.
